Dr. Glynnis Hood kicked off Jasper’s inaugural Nerd Nite in March with a tail slap. In her talk Beavers: Not Just a Great Set of Teeth, she showed us just how much beavers are shaping the landscape around us. Dr. John Wilmshurst helped us see grasslands for the wilderness that they truly are, and reminded us that grasslands are the reason us humans stand upright. To finish it off, Eve Smeltzer tantalized with a story of dominance and deception between warring groups of vervet monkeys. Plot twist: Paco the aggressor gets taken out by a python. It’s a python-eat-monkey world out there folks! Thanks to the Alberta Chapter of the Wildlife Society and the Jasper Legion for partnering with us on a fascinating and hilarious show.
